Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman stated that the concert ‘Sobar Agey Bangladesh’ held on Victory Day in Dhaka was organized to discourage the frequent invitation of foreign artists, a practice he criticized during the 15-year tenure of the previous government.
Speaking virtually from London during a training workshop on the BNP’s 31-point reform agenda, Tarique explained that the concert aimed to promote local culture and reduce dependency on neighboring countries like India and Pakistan for entertainment. He stressed the importance of showcasing Bangladesh’s own artistic heritage, highlighting the concert’s inclusion of diverse musical genres like modern, Baul, Bhatiali, and moromi songs, beyond just rock or band music.
The workshop, organized by the BNP Central Training Committee, was held at the Magura auditorium and saw participation from BNP leaders and activists from the Magura, Chuadanga, Meherpur, and Kushtia district chapters.
Tarique emphasized that the concert was also a way to celebrate the unique traditions, culture, and tourism potential of each district in Bangladesh.
