A case has been filed against 56 individuals, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, over the killing of Hafez Mawlana Sadikul during the recent anti-discrimination student movement in the capital’s Uttara area.
The lawsuit, filed today in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Fazana Shakila Sumu Chowdhury, accuses several prominent political figures, including Obaidul Quader, Abdur Razzak, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and Chowdhury Abdullah-Al Mamun.
Ashraf Siddiqui, the uncle of the deceased, lodged the complaint. After recording his statement, the court directed Uttara West Police Station to register the case as a First Information Report (FIR).
Mawlana Sadikul was critically injured on July 19 in Uttara Sector 9 when police allegedly opened fire on a rally organized by the anti-discrimination student movement. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries the following day. The incident has sparked outrage and further intensified the ongoing protests.
