President asks CAG office to ensure proper spending of public money

President Mohammed Shahabuddin asked the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) office to ensure transparent and accountable use of public funds.   

The President came up with the directive as a three-member delegation led by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of Bangladesh, Md Nurul Islam, handed over an audit and accounts report to him at Bangabhaban here this afternoon, reports BSS.

President’s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin said that the President had instructed all relevant authorities to maintain transparency and accountability in government spending.
 

The President emphasized the importance of auditing to verify that people’s money is being used properly, as Bangladesh’s budget and development programs continue to grow every year.  

The Head of the State directed the CAG to take necessary steps to update all audits and resolve any outstanding audit objections.

During the meeting, the CAG provided an overview of their recent work, including 45 compliance audit reports, two utility account reports, and two financial account reports.

They also informed the President about measures taken regarding government employee salaries, pensions, and other benefits.

Secretaries concerned to the President’s office were also present.
