Sarjis Alam, the chief organiser of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, emphasised that the upcoming elections must be conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner, marking a historic moment for the country.
Addressing the “New Bangladesh in Your Eyes” campaign at a resort, Sarjis stated that the election process should reflect the aspirations of the masses, and that no political party would be opposed if it won 300 seats, as long as the elections were fair and transparent.
The event was jointly organised by the Sonargaon upazila units of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Sarjis criticised the current leadership, stating that “killer Hasina” had caused fear in the country but was now inciting people from abroad. He urged the public not to follow anyone blindly but to think critically and express their opinions.
He further clarified that the students involved were not after power. He mentioned that following the victory on August 5, they engaged in discussions with political leaders and the victims of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, emphasising that their focus was on the well-being of the country’s people, not on power.
Sarjis concluded by stating that the post-uprising political party will be inclusive, open to people of all ages, religions, opinions, and social classes.
