Dengue death toll rises to 38 as two more die in 24 hours

Dengue continues to claim lives in Bangladesh, with two more fatalities reported in the past 24 hours, raising the total death toll to 38 so far this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest victims include a 14-year-old boy and a 48-year-old woman, the DGHS said in its daily update on Thursday morning.
During the same 24-hour period, 195 new dengue patients were hospitalised across the country. Barishal division recorded the highest number of admissions with 74 cases, followed by Dhaka division with 90 cases, including 60 in Dhaka city.
Elsewhere, 18 patients were admitted in Rajshahi division, 8 in Chattogram, 3 in Sylhet, and 2 in Mymensingh division.
So far this year, a total of 9,065 people have been infected with the mosquito-borne disease, the DGHS report said.
Health authorities continue to urge residents to remain vigilant and take preventive measures to reduce mosquito breeding.
