
Professor Dr Anwar H Joarder has officially joined Northern University of Business and Technology (NUBT) Khulna as Pro-Vice Chancellor on Saturday. The President of Bangladesh and Chancellor of the University, Mohammed Shahabuddin, appointed him to this role for a four-year term.
He was born in Hasanpur, Dumuria, Khulna. He completed his undergraduate degree in Statistics at the University of Dhaka before earning an MSc and PhD from the University of Western Ontario in 1988 and 1992, respectively. He began his academic career as an Assistant Professor at the same university.
Professor Joardar has taught and conducted research at 14 universities in Canada, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Brunei, Bangladesh, and Morocco. Before his appointment at NUBT Khulna, he had been on leave while serving as a faculty member at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco. He also served as the Dean of NUBT Khulna for nearly 3.5 years. Professor Joardar has authored 93 research papers in statistics and mathematics, with an H-index of 16. His research findings have been included in textbooks and research monographs.
