Circular issued on keeping AC temp at 25°C in offices, homes

The Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources has requested setting the air conditioner (AC) temperature at a minimum of 25°C during the upcoming Ramadan and the summer season.
This information was shared in a circular signed by the Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division, Zaheda Parveen, on Sunday.
The circular states that Ramadan, the summer season, and the irrigation season will begin simultaneously this year, leading to a significant increase in electricity demand.
It is mentioned that controlling this demand can be achieved by using air conditioners at the prescribed temperature setting. Therefore, all government, autonomous, statutory, and private institutions are requested to ensure that their air conditioners are set at 25°C or higher.
Additionally, the circular urges the Ministry of Commerce to inform the private sector about this decision through various business organisations, while the Ministry of Social Welfare and the Bureau of NGO Affairs are requested to inform private voluntary organisations.
Earlier, on February 17, Adviser to the Ministry of Railways Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan requested that air conditioners be kept at 25°C or above during the upcoming Ramadan and summer season.
He also warned that if this request is ignored, power supply may be disconnected, or other legal actions may be taken.
