UN report proves Hasina is a fascist: BNP

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) expressed satisfaction with a recent fact-finding report by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) regarding the July-August uprising. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir claimed that the report has confirmed that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is a “fascist.”

During a press briefing at BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office, Fakhrul remarked that the UN’s findings had proven their long-standing accusations, which many had previously been hesitant to accept. He thanked the UN investigation team for revealing the truth and praised the credibility of the report, noting that when the UN speaks, people tend to believe its findings.

Fakhrul emphasized that the report highlighted that the killings and massacres were carried out under Hasina’s direction, calling her actions oppressive, torturous, and genocidal. He further stated that BNP expects the Indian government to facilitate Hasina’s return to Bangladesh to stand trial.

In response to the OHCHR’s recommendation against banning political parties, Fakhrul stated that political parties should be determined by the people, not external forces. He reiterated BNP’s commitment to liberal democracy and its principles, emphasizing that the people, not the government, should decide which parties can contest elections.
