Gentry Beach, a prominent US businessman and CEO of Highground Holdings, met with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today to discuss his interest in increasing investments in Bangladesh. Beach, whose company has already acquired multiple assets in the country, expressed his desire to further invest in sectors such as energy, finance, real estate, social housing, aerospace, and defense.
During the meeting, Beach praised the improvements in Bangladesh’s law and order situation, noting that the country’s stability has made it an ideal time for more investments. “You’ve done a great job,” he told Professor Yunus. “It’s time for more investment to come to this country. We are excited to be here,” Beach added.
Professor Yunus welcomed Beach’s investment plans and emphasized the interim government’s efforts to attract more foreign direct investment (FDI) by implementing reforms. He stated that the country is now ready for business and that Bangladesh is entering a new chapter in its history.
Yunus also highlighted the need for increased US investments in various sectors, including gas exploration in both onshore and offshore fields.
Beach, who has previously invested in Africa and plans to invest in Pakistan, noted that an increase in American investment would lead to higher labor wages in Bangladesh. “We will make Bangladesh great again,” he remarked.
Bangladesh Investment Development Authority Chairman Ashik Chowdhury and Senior Secretary to SDG Affairs Lamiya Morshed were also present during the meeting.
