Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today issued a directive to secretaries of all ministries and divisions, urging them to take swift action and implement reform programs across all levels of government.
During a meeting at the Chief Adviser’s Office (CAO), Prof Yunus emphasized the importance of consulting with stakeholders when formulating these reforms. “Consultation and input from stakeholders are crucial to shaping effective reform programs,” he stated.
The Chief Adviser called for a new approach to governance, stressing that honesty, accountability, and devotion must be the cornerstones of a reformed Bangladesh, in line with the aspirations expressed by the public during the July-August uprising.
“We must abandon conventional thinking and prioritize public interest in all government activities,” Prof Yunus said, urging creativity in policy implementation. He underscored the need to eradicate corruption and improve public services to ensure the highest level of citizen satisfaction.
Prof Yunus also instructed the authorities to ensure fair competition in public procurement, removing any obstacles to transparency and accountability. He called for all ministries and divisions to submit time-bound action plans for short-term, medium-term, and long-term reforms, with a focus on innovative and citizen-friendly approaches. These plans will be regularly evaluated and monitored.
The Chief Adviser further highlighted the global interest and positive perception that has emerged about Bangladesh following the recent public movement. He urged the secretaries to capitalize on this momentum for the country’s benefit.
