Dr Abdullah-Al-Mamun made new provost of SM Hall

Dr Abdullah-Al-Mamun, associate professor of the Department of Japanese Studies at Dhaka University has been made the new provost of Salimullah Muslim (SM) Hall.

DU vice-chancellor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan appointed 11 provosts for 11 dormitories on Tuesday. Registrar (acting) Munshi Sham Uddin Ahmed in a letter made the disclosure.

In an instant reaction to his new assignment, Dr Mamun said he would spare every effort to perform the duty vested in him with due diligence, without fear and favour, during the tenure of his provostship.

“I’ll discharge my duties wholeheartedly to ensure a congenial academic climate in this historic dormitory during my term of office.”

The DU administration also made eight acting deans for eight faculties the same day.
