Nusraat Faria released on bail, opens up about ordeal

Actress Nusraat Faria was granted bail today in connection with an attempted murder case linked to the mass uprising in July last year. After spending two days in custody, she was released early this morning.
Shortly after her release, a statement was posted on her official Facebook page, where Faria candidly shared her emotional and physical struggles over the past 48 hours. She also expressed deep gratitude to those who supported her during the difficult time.
“I’ve gone through the most critical period of my life in the last two days. I was mentally shattered,” she wrote. “But I want to thank everyone who stood by me—my colleagues, the media, and the countless people from all walks of life who raised their voices for justice. Your love and support gave me strength, and I will carry this with me forever.”
She added, “Without your support, I might not have been able to return so soon. A special thanks to our media professionals — your unwavering support has meant everything to me.”
Faria’s arrest sparked an outpouring of outrage across social media. Prominent figures from the cultural community, including directors Ashfaque Nipun and Shihab Shaheen, as well as actors Azmeri Haque Badhan and Khairul Basar, publicly condemned the arrest and voiced their solidarity.
Actors Equity also released a strong statement yesterday, criticizing the growing trend of legal actions against members of the artistic community. The organization emphasized the need to protect creative freedom and ensure fair legal processes for all individuals in the cultural sector.
