Price of 12kg LPG cylinder reduced by Tk 19

The price of a 12kg cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), widely used in households across Bangladesh, has been reduced by Tk 19, bringing the new retail price to Tk 1,431. The revised rate reflects a decrease of Tk 1.56 per kg compared to last month.
The announcement was made on Sunday by Jalal Ahmed, Chairman of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC), at a press conference held at the commission’s office. The new price has taken effect from 6 PM on Sunday.
BERC adjusts LPG prices monthly, based on global market trends and import costs, particularly the Saudi CP (Contract Price) set by Aramco for key components propane and butane. The commission calculates an average import price using the invoices submitted by importers and the prevailing exchange rate to set domestic rates.
Under the latest adjustment, the price of privately supplied LPG has been set at Tk 119.24 per kg (including VAT), down from Tk 120.81 per kg in April.
However, the price of LPG supplied by state-owned companies has increased. The cost of a 12.5kg government-supplied cylinder has risen from Tk 690 to Tk 825. Meanwhile, the price of autogas—LPG used in vehicles—has been slightly reduced, now fixed at Tk 65.57 per litre, down from Tk 66.41.
Despite regular price declarations by BERC, there have been persistent complaints that LPG is not sold at the officially fixed rates in many markets.
