Bangladesh has strongly condemned the ongoing mass killings and severe human rights violations by the Israeli Occupying Forces in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement released on Monday, the Bangladesh government called for an immediate halt to Israel’s military actions, urging the country to exercise maximum restraint and adhere to its obligations under international humanitarian law.
The statement expressed Bangladesh’s deep disapproval of Israel’s indiscriminate airstrikes on densely populated civilian areas in Gaza, which it described as a deliberate attempt at ethnic cleansing of the defenseless Palestinian population.
Since Israel’s breach of the ceasefire last month, the ongoing military assaults have led to numerous Palestinian casualties, particularly women and children. Furthermore, the blockade of humanitarian aid into Gaza has triggered a humanitarian crisis.
The statement emphasized that Israel has disregarded repeated international calls for restraint and instead escalated its attacks, resulting in further bloodshed.
Bangladesh urged the international community, especially the United Nations (UN), to take immediate and effective action to ensure the implementation of an unconditional ceasefire. It also called for the cessation of hostilities to protect civilian lives and ensure unhindered access for humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The Bangladesh government reiterated its unwavering support for the rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Additionally, Bangladesh stressed the importance of returning to peace negotiations to achieve lasting stability in the Middle East, which is crucial for both regional and global peace.
Bangladesh reaffirmed its commitment to a two-state solution for the Palestinian issue, advocating for a resolution based on international law, United Nations resolutions, and the Palestinians’ aspirations for peace, justice, and dignity.
