Esho Gori Foundation distributes eid gifts to underprivileged children in Khilgaon

Esho Gori Foundation, a social welfare organization, distributed Eid gifts to over 150 underprivileged children in Khilgaon, Dhaka, on Tuesday evening. The event was held at the Khilgaon Govt. School and College Ground, where the foundation’s members also provided dry food items to young children.

The initiative, titled “Eid Hoak Notun Kichu” (Let This Eid Bring Something New), aims to spread happiness among the disadvantaged children, who often face hardship and lack basic necessities. The event was marked by the foundation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable children, who often face societal neglect and deprivation.

The chief guest, Mohammad Alid bin Siddique Talukdar, an advisor to the foundation and the Acting Editor of Bangla Post, highlighted the grim reality faced by over 30 million children living below the poverty line in Bangladesh. He emphasized that these children have dreams just like any other, but lack the means to fulfill them. “In a developing country, it is unacceptable that such a large number of children are left to wander the streets in hunger, often begging for food or money,” he said.

Foundation member secretary Tanveer presided over the event, while Foundation Director Raihan Hossain also played a pivotal role in organizing the program. Special guests included Rokeya Hashem, President of the Nationalist Women’s Wing of Ishwardi Upazila, and renowned dancer and TV presenter Mobashira Nujhat Tasnia Upti, who extended their support for the cause.

Rokeya Hashem pointed out the necessity of providing adequate care and support for these underprivileged children and the vital role social organizations play in making a difference. “With the right sponsorship, we can make a significant impact on the lives of these children,” she said.

Mobashira Nujhat Tasnia Upti also stressed the importance of empowering youth through rehabilitating these children, integrating them into education, and providing cultural opportunities. She suggested that this approach could simultaneously address youth unemployment issues.

Mohammad Alid Bin Siddique Talukdar concluded by stating that charity work should not be limited to a once-a-year event or for show. “Sustained efforts and proper allocation of resources are essential to provide a permanent solution for the underprivileged. The government must prioritize this issue in the national budget,” he said.

Since 2017, Esho Gori Foundation has been organizing this event every Eid, reaching out to disadvantaged children and making the occasion a moment of joy and hope for them. The foundation continues to advocate for lasting solutions to the challenges faced by underprivileged children, calling for better allocation of resources and stricter monitoring of child labor and welfare policies.
